Intaglio Printing with Collagraph Plates (2 days)
Friday 9:30am-3pm / Saturday 9:30am-12pm
Led by Theresa Wingert
Collagraph intaglio is a versatile printmaking method where a textured plate is built by adhering layered materials, then applying ink to the textures and wiping the surface clean, so ink remains in the recessed areas, transferring rich, detailed, atmospheric prints to damp paper using an etching press. It combines collage with intaglio principles, allowing for unique textures from found objects like fabric, tape, leaves, or string, creating deep tonal effects as ink settles into the various depths.
In this 2 day workshop, we will create multiple plates, then ink and run test prints. We will then further modify and refine the plates through addition and mark making, finally running a small print run of 4-5 finished prints.
Theresa Wingert is a multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker, who will inspire with her love of printmaking and experimental approach.
