Silver Casting into Organic Materials

Silver Casting into Organic Materials

Led by Signe Sterner

Saturday 9am-2pm

Organic silver casting is a jewelry-making technique where molten silver is poured into natural materials such as rock salt, lentils, or pine needles to create amazingly unique, free-form, organic shapes. In this workshop we will melt silver grain and scrap with a torch and experiment with several different materials. Each person will then clean and polish the shapes and make a simple drilled bail pendant with their favorite piece.

Soldering experience is not required and will not be part of the workshop, however those with soldering skills will have the option to stay an extra hour to solder simple findings to their piece if desired.

Workshop price includes $75 of silver (approx. 30 grams)
